Reddish Knob

While Mom was here visiting with us we took a drive up to Reddish Knob.  The road to the top was narrow in some spots and only wide enough for one car at a time.  There was a 100 mile foot race going on too.  It would have been so cool if we knew about the race beforehand and we could have gotten there earlier to see more of the runners/walkers.

Awesome!

Noah and Pepper are off to explore the side of the mountain.

My sweet Mother... isn't she beautiful?!

Looking out toward VA

This is the parking lot at the top of the mountain and it's a shame it has graffiti all over it.  From this angle it looks like you could just step off the side.

Noah found a travel bug from a fellow geo-cacher.

This was supposed to be a nice picture of Travis and me looking out over the mountain.  I just love my girls!

My two favorite boys!

Seneca Rocks

Treasure Mountain Festival

We were on pins and needles waiting for the winners to be announced!

There were 3 division: mustache, beard, and mountain man.  I believe he won the mountain man division.

2nd place mountain man division.
Everyone heads down the hill to take in more activities.

There were many different bands playing throughout the weekend.

You could even bring your own instrument and sit here and jam with other musicians.  We will definitely attend the festival again next year and make sure we fit in the parade and the reenactment at Ft. Seybert.

We heard that Moe Fatz has the best ice cream around, so the other night we took the kids and a couple of friends to check it out.

We spotted this as we were leaving Moe's. I'm guessing he was newly stuffed and they were on the way home from the taxidermist and decided to stop for ice cream but, who knows.

I love this wagon wheel bench outside of our cabin and the cuties love sitting on it.

There are poultry farms all over the place around here and they are not the most pleasant places. When I think about what goes on in them, I have to admit it makes me a little sick. The other day I got behind a poultry truck on the way over the mountain. It made me sad seeing the live chickens in it, some with their heads sticking out of the cages, on their way to the slaughterhouse. I was so thankful when the driver pulled over and I was able to pass.

We went to a church gathering held at a beautiful location with lots of good food. It reminded me of the family gatherings we would have back home.

The kids spent most of their time looking for crawdads and tadpoles...

playing the bean bag toss game...

swinging...

jumping back and forth across the creek...

and exploring the great outdoors.
